Sock puppet (dog)

The best sock puppets are homemade and slightly eccentric. Don't go spending money on same-same craft supplies; don't even leave the house. Just use an old piece of clothing for spare parts and make your own one-of-a-kind dog puppet.

What You Need:

  • One brown or black sock
  • Needle and thread
  • Craft glue
  • 1 x black button (nose)
  • 2 x other buttons (eyes)
  • Scraps of brown corduroy for the ears and eye-spot.
  • Small scrap of red material or felt for the tongue.
  • Scissors

Activity:

  • Put the sock on your hand so that your thumb is in the heel and your fingers are in the toe.
  • Test out making it talk and take note of where its eyes, tongue, nose and ears will be.
  • Cut a small circle out of the brown corduroy material (for an 'eye-spot' as in: the dark patch around the dog's eye)
  • Use the craft glue to glue the eye-spot in place.
  • Use the needle and thread to sew on two buttons for eyes- sewing one of them on top of the eye-spot.
  • Using the brown corduroy material cut out two floppy ears.
  • Sew on the ears.
  • Using your red material, cut out a tongue and sew it into place.
  • Sew the black button on for a nose.
  • Voila! Dog puppet!
